Nobody buys a Vorn Raider to survive. They buy it to be somewhere they weren't a second ago, with six guns already firing. Sixty points of shielding is an insult in a real fight — one solid volley and you are debris drifting toward a port that will not miss you. That is the bargain the pirates accepted, and they would make it again tomorrow.
Because the Raider takes. Ten percent of your hold leaves with it after every kill, and the frontier's ledgers are full of merchants who learned that silhouette one second too late. It is not a warship. It is a robbery with a reactor bolted to it — the purest glass cannon ever flown.
