▸ FAQ ◂
Kron Wars is a modern, browser-based massively multiplayer space-trading and combat game inspired by the golden age of 1987 BBS gaming. Players trade commodities across 1,600 ports, command 47 unique ships, colonize planets, build Spire Citadels, and compete in a living economy powered by the KRON Ledger. Built with modern technology (.NET 10, Blazor WebAssembly, Microsoft Orleans), it pairs deep, ruthless strategic gameplay with AI-driven NPC factions, real-time combat, and a multiverse architecture.
Yes — Kron Wars is free to play. Create an account or sign in with Steam and jump straight into the browser: no downloads, no installs, no paywall. Every commander starts with a starter ship, a KRON balance, and full access to the universe. Optional Founders Packs (from Pioneer to the limited-edition Sovereign) help fund development and include cosmetic ship skins, KRON bonuses, founder perks, and early access — but no purchase grants a permanent competitive advantage that can't be earned through normal gameplay. Kron Wars is built to be fair: support the project if you want to, but you'll never have to pay to compete.
Trading is the economic backbone of the frontier. The galaxy has 1,600 ports, each with dynamic supply and demand for commodities like Raw Aetherium, Darksteel, BioOil, Quantum Chips, and rare exotic materials. Prices fluctuate based on player activity, NPC trader behavior, and galactic events. You buy low at one port, transport goods through potentially dangerous sectors, and sell high at another. The KRON currency powers legitimate markets, while the underground KRN-Δ black market handles contraband, stolen goods, and intelligence trading.
There are 47 ships across 6 size classes — from the starter TWF-101 Merchant Scout (15,000₭) to the legendary Sovereign capital ship (2,500,000₭). Each ship has unique stats for Cargo, Shields, Attack Slots, Defense Slots, Velocity, and Fighter capacity. The fitting system uses a power management grid with three resources: Fusion Output (FO) for weapons and modules, Lattice Threads (LT) for electronic systems, and Flux Reserve (FR) for capacitor-dependent equipment. Balancing these three resources is key to optimizing your ship for trading, combat, or exploration.
Spire Citadels are modular space stations you build on colonized planets. They progress through 6 tiers — from Outpost Node to Apex Sovereign — and support 9 purchasable modules including Trade Halls (+10% profit), Research Spires (+15% crafting speed), Terraform Engines (+20% planet production), Stealth Arrays, Energy Silos, Shipyard Fabricators, and Hangar Bays. You can only activate 8 modules simultaneously, forcing strategic choices. Higher tiers unlock exclusive modules with mutually exclusive options at Tier V and VI, adding endgame depth.
Kron Wars features both PvP (player vs player) and PvE (player vs environment) combat. Ships deploy fighters, fire weapons from attack slots, and use defensive modules to absorb damage. The Combat Arena V2.0 system handles tactical encounters where power ratios, ship fitting, and fighter deployment matter. Kryllith Fleets ambush from cloak with 2:1 advantage requirements, Pirate Fleets extort traders for cargo, and Police Patrols enforce the law in safe sectors. Every encounter is a calculated risk between potential profit and catastrophic loss.
There are 9 fully autonomous NPC factions, each with unique AI behavior trees: Police Patrols enforce law in safe sectors, Pirate Fleets extort merchants on trade routes, Kryllith Fleets ambush from cloak, Alien Traders balance the economy, Merchant Convoys run bulk contract routes, Bounty Hunters track criminals across the galaxy, Elyndari Surveyors explore frontier space and sell intel, Krull Miners defend asteroid claims to the death, and Drax Rigs conduct industrial sabotage. Each faction uses hybrid LLM + FSM reasoning for strategic decisions.
The economy runs on a dual-currency Ledger system. KRN (KRON) is the legitimate currency used at official ports for trading, ship purchases, and module installations. KRN-Δ (KRON-Delta) powers the underground black market — contraband smuggling, untraceable transactions, stolen goods fencing, assassination contracts, and intelligence trading. Both currencies interact to create emergent gameplay where legitimate traders and outlaws coexist in a living, player-driven economy.
You can discover and colonize planets across 7 classes, each with different resource profiles and environmental challenges. Once colonized, planets produce resources, house workers, and serve as the foundation for Spire Citadels and StarPorts. The Planet Production Dashboard lets you monitor all your planetary operations. You claim territory through the planet claim system and defend it against rival players and NPC raiders. StarPorts can be upgraded through 6 tiers, unlocking ship sales, repair bays, and refueling stations.
Kron Wars runs entirely in your web browser via Blazor WebAssembly. No downloads, no plugins, no installation — just visit the game URL and start playing. The WebBlazor client delivers a full-featured experience with real-time updates, interactive galaxy maps, and ship management interfaces. A mobile app via MAUI Blazor is planned for future release on iOS and Android.
Kron Wars is designed from the ground up as a multiverse. Currently in beta with 1 active universe containing 5,000 sectors, the architecture supports infinite parallel universes connected by Cross-Universe Jump Gates. Each universe can have different rules, economies, and political structures. The multiverse expansion is in early development — when it launches, transferring goods and ships between universes will create entirely new strategic dimensions.
Kron Wars combines deep economic and strategic gameplay — a player-driven economy, territorial control, corporate warfare, and meaningful loss — with the accessibility of a browser game. There's no client to download and no steep barrier for new players: just connect and play. The focus is on strategic decisions rather than twitch piloting, rooted in the spirit of classic BBS space-trading. Easy to start, hard to master, and built to reward cunning over reflexes.
Yes. Eight major Corporations divide the Frontier — each with its own ideology, territory, and agenda. Players can join a Corporation, rise through its ranks, vote on its decisions, and take part in corporate warfare, alliance diplomacy, and territorial planet claims. The ability for players to found and run their own Corporations is currently in active development. Compete and cooperate through the shared economy and the public Killboard, and join our Discord community to connect with other commanders, share strategies, and follow development progress.
Development follows four phases. Phase I (Foundation) is complete: core trading, 23 ship classes, 9 NPC factions, the KRON economy, and the WebBlazor client. Phase II (Expansion) is complete: planet colonization, Spire Citadels, 24 enhanced ships, blueprint crafting, mining fleet, and mission systems. Phase III (Conflict) is complete: PvP/PvE combat, planet claims, Spire sieges, Combat Arena V2.0, corporation warfare, alliance diplomacy, and bounty contracts. Phase IV (Sovereignty) is in early development: multiverse expansion, cross-universe
· THE VISION ·
The space-trading worlds of the 1987 BBS era proved something timeless: you don’t need cutting-edge graphics to build an unforgettable universe — you need depth, consequence, and a galaxy that truly belongs to its players. That conviction is where Kron Wars begins.
Simple to enter. Impossible to master.
“The best games don’t tell you what to do. They give you a universe and let you decide who you want to be.”
Kron Wars isn’t a remake, and it isn’t a nostalgia project. It’s a question answered: what does a deep, player-driven space-trading universe look like when it’s built today — with modern distributed computing, AI-driven NPCs, and a transparent ledger economy — but the same ruthless strategy that made the genre legendary?
The answer is a living galaxy of thousands of sectors. 47 ships across 6 size classes. Nine autonomous NPC factions that think, adapt, and remember. A dual-currency economy built on the KRON, where lawful traders and outlaws share the same dark. Planets to colonize, Spire Citadels to raise, and a combat system where every engagement is a calculated risk — all spanning a multiverse designed to scale to infinity.
The technology is .NET 10, Microsoft Orleans, Blazor WebAssembly. The soul is the golden age of the frontier.
The Frontier is open. What you do with it is up to you.
